No 2 was obviously taken while you did your Interrail trip in Europe. My guess would be that is somewhere in either the Czech Republic or Slovakia, but no idea where in those.

I'm going to give you the connection / theme - I have used a picture I have taken each month of 2024 to make up this quiz, in order.   So no. 1 as taken in January and so on up to no.12 being earlier this month (December).  Perhaps that was more personal and obscure than appropriate.  And - beware - I may be able to do a similar series in December 2025.

9 shows some familiar faces (and familiar backs of heads!) on the first day of service at Ashley Down

Yes ... the usual suspects ...

All visited using a rail pass/rover ticket

Most were and an interesting thought but, no, some weren't.

6.  Skjolden, Norway.

I'm still no nearer working out the connecting link in this quiz, though.

Just the same for the "Glacier Express" with a chance to break journey at places like Disentis and Andermatt along the way ...

A clue to no. 3  - Disentis?

As it happen

And these correct answers edited in, in no particular order.

8. Lyndey - Western Pathfinder
4. Antwerpen Centraal - JayMac
3. Disentis - eightonedee
10 Marsh Barton - PhilWakely
12. Trowbridge - brooklea
9. Ashley Down - Red Squirrel
11. Chippenham - stuving
1. Melksham - ellendune

Yes, all my pictures as was suggested earlier, but a bit more of a link / correlation too

That is a correct connection - but only a part of the answer.  Please go further ...

6. Looks like Flam in Norway, which is the terminus of the Flam branch railway down from the main line in the hills.  Tip: if you sail in to Flam you should get up early and get to the station in time for the first train of the day and buy an ordinary ticket, which is cheaper than booking a group excursion from the ship.

Close, but no cigar.   The tip is a good one in many places - use the local services slightly away from the tourism peaks.  Just the same for the "Glacier Express" with a chance to break journey at places like Disentis and Andermatt along the way ... and come 2028 will we be able to do a day out to Minehead arriving on the early service train and leaving at the end of a wonderful day ... sorry - dreaming on that one.
