Opened as a single (broad gauge) in 1852 ... second track opened 8th February 1853 ... converted to standard gauge in 1872 ... singled in parts in 1986 ... redoubling completed in July 2013 - the ups and downs of the Swansea to Carmarthen line.  Further complexity and branches described at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Wales_lines and see also http://www.broadgauge.org.uk/history/bg_gauge_map.html
