RSPB Ham Wall

One of our favourite returning visits is to the RSPB reserve at Ham Wall. It is, unusually, dog friendly as it follows the old S & D route east from Ashcott station for around a mile or so. At places along the route are bridges which allow you to return on the tow path of the Old Glastonbury canal.
While primarily a bird sanctuary, there is a wide variety of insects and plants to be seen. It is probably best known for th starling murmurations in winter.
Going westward the railway track enters another reserve which is not dog friendly.
Refreshments are available there most days, manned by volunteers.
