Automated on board announcements

I must admit I thought the problem of 150s losing track of where they were had been solved now all doors are opened at Melksham.

However it seems not.  As I prepared to board the 14:40 to Swindon at Melksham there was a sudden scramble for the doors by half a dozen on board.  It seems the digital announcements had suggested the train was arriving at Chippenham.

Several just made it to the platform as the guard closed the doors.  Thankfully they realised their mistake before the guard gave the driver the right away and he was able to reopen the doors before leaving.

The situation isn’t helped by the fact up trains call alongside the extended part of the platform where there are currently no running in boards with the station name.
