Angry passengers stop train leaving Manchester Piccadilly until 'jobsworth' staff let them on

There were chaotic scenes at Piccadilly Train Station when one irate passenger put his foot on the train's step to prevent it from leaving

A group of furious passengers held up a train for 15 minutes until 'jobsworth staff' allowed them to board, despite their late arrival. Lou Monrow and her wheelchair-bound mother Susan Hackett claim they arrived at their platform at Manchester Piccadilly station only to find the train doors had been 'turned off'.

The 34-year-old said that she, her mother, and 'four others' were informed they were too late, leading to one man staging a protest while Lou and the group argued with station staff. Footage from September 7 shows the man straddling the step of the Transport for Wales carriage and the platform, saying 'we are here at 9.30pm and we are early'.

I'm generally more pro passenger than staff because there is an streak of unnecessary jobsworth-ness across the rail industry.

However, in this instance the sheer brazen entitlement of the passengers in this story beggars belief. The doors have closed, the train is ready to depart. You've missed it. Tough titty. Get on the next one. And if that means you have to buy another ticket or pay an excess then, again, tough titty. It's your damn fault you were too late.

The staff did not delay the train for 15 minutes. You did, you muppets. And Mum being in a wheelchair is irrelevant. Except for those idiots who play the disability card in the hope of getting better treatment than Joe Public. It's equal treatment, not enhanced.

Also, being let through the gateline is not an automatic pass onto a train. The 2130 TfW service nearly always goes from P10 at Man Picc. The gateline for that platform also covers P11-P14. The Gateline staff are not mind readers, nor are the the ticket readers/scanners. Another irrelevant point raised by this idiot 'model' who seemingly thinks the world owes her a favour.

Her hypersensitive responses to the criticism she's rightly received on social media just confim my opinion of her.

As for the guy standing on the train step. Prosecution under Section 16 of the Railway Regulation Act. £1000 fine will concentrate the mind to not consider such an act again.

To perhaps quote 'Rumpole of the Bailey', "That, M'Lud, is the case from the Prosecution."
